Today in my Pakistan class, my professor showed us this online quiz to help us quiz ourselves on the Pakistani provences and regions. I can do it! Can you?!

Back to homework before my eyes become more bloodshot than they already are :D

Paintball!
Last night, Cat and I went paintballing for the first time. Sadly, only two of the guns the guys brought worked, so we let the guys hunt each other for a while. We then played a way fun version of hide and go seek where they guys would try to get to "base" before we shot them. There was a REALLY strong wind to there advantage. We didn't hit them which was sad. We then played a game that was sort of like an old west shoot out where we would stand really far apart and shoot at each other then take a step forward and try to shoot each other again until someone got hit. I won against one of the guys the first time I played, and then Catherine got me the second time. It wasn't exactly fair because it was more about luck than anything. We were standing on the side of a mountain and the wind seriously messed up the whole "point and shoot" mentality. Here are a few pictures from the evening.

I don't remember this guys name, but he shot me the first time. I also like how you can see my battle wound inflicted by Cat
Who needs a guy?! We've got each other!! (we always seem to get a picture like this)

Oh, how clever am I?
For my Book of Mormon class, we had to make our own rendition of a diagram for the plan of salvation.
You probably cant tell what this is, so I'll explain. The pre-mortal existence is like new clothes... Taking the tag off (the blue square) is like the veil, because after the tag is removed, you can't tell they are new anymore. Earth life is like wearing the clothes. You test their durability, comfortability for long-term wear, stain resistance if the unfortunate event occurs where you spill your lunch on yourself. Death is like the laundry hamper. The washer and dryer are like resurrection and final judgement, and the closet represents the after life. The top shelf being the celestial kingdom, the middle being terrestrial and the bottom shelf being telestial.
Oh yeah, I came up with that all by myself...
After completing my homework at 7:50 local Rexburg time, I proceeded to chat with the roommies, make myself a ham and colby jack cheese sandwich for dinner, wash all the dishes, clean the kitchen and then write an essay that isn't due until Tuesday. The assignment is to write a "This I Believe" essay like the ones being done for NPR. I thought I would include mine to get some peer reviews from the readers of my blog.... be kind, It's only the first draft, I haven't had time to do much revising.
I believe that every teenager should have to wait tables for at least one summer. The experiences I have had by working at a local restaurant in my Mississippi hometown have led me to be the person I am today and will be with me for the rest of my life.
I have learned invaluable skills such as being courteous to people even when they don’t return the favor. If I said half of the things I wanted to say, I would have been fired no matter how much the customer deserved it. I had to learn how to smile and say “of course, you’re right, I’ll have it made again” when the salad is perfectly fine and, contrary to their belief, exactly what they ordered. I learned the art of graciously and cautiously avoiding the flirtatious passes of old southern gentleman who still think they are in their twenties. I’ve had to bus tables and mop floors and other not so fun and unpleasant things that were definitely not in my job description. I think all teens should work in a restaurant not because I am bitter and want others to share in my misery, but because of what I have taken away from my experiences.
I have learned to be much more patient. I learned this not only because of my customers, but also because of my coworkers. We all have bad days, and sometimes orders are just messed up. This is life. I am much more kind to waitresses and bus boys at every eating establishment that I visit. Their job is hard, be nice! I have also become a much more generous tipper. I know what it’s like to be in their shoes, and trust me they deserve it.
So, next time you are out with your family or friends, smile to your waitress. Don’t be mad if you have tomatoes on your salad, it’s probably not her fault anyway. Most importantly, tip her well. It’s good karma.

Classes day 2
I'm still very happy with my choice of classes. Today I had Pakistan, Jazz dance and freshman writing. My writing teacher looks like Barney Fife. I pretty much cracked up when he walked into the room. Pakistan will be very interesting as well as challenging. I'm very excited about being in that class (even though I have TONS of homework to do for that class tonight). I'm also excited about my dance class. I'm not so excited to see how much i've forgotten....but luckily there are people in the class who have never danced before. One such student is a very cute guy. I wasn't expecting a guy to be in the class so that was a little bit of a shock.
Here is the oh so lovely outfit we are required to wear
If you couldn't tell (which I'm sure you can't) I have to wear leggings, a leotard, shorts and a tank top. It is very uncomfortable to wear so many layers. What is worse is that I will have to wear the leggings and leotard under regular clothes to my Pakistan class because I won't have time to fully change and not be late to the dance class. Apparently I'm just not meant to look cute on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Oh, and look mom, I actually went to devotional! Yes, that is my foot...and Dan's arm

Move In!
Thursday, of course flew to Idaho and moved into my new apartment. I am living with Cat again. She found a really nice apartment complex about 2 blocks from campus. There are 6 girls in the apartment again but this time we have our own rooms. We are also super excited that we have a kitchen and have been saved from the nordic. I tried to take some pictures of my room to give everyone as much of a 360 view as possible.
My bed with the paintings of Oxford above it, and the bulletin board will soon be hanging on that wall

Closet and desk...
Desk!
The oh-so lovely view out my window
Cat and I decided to host our own morning show while we were getting ready this morning...

Newark, New York, and home again...
I know many of you are wanting to know about my intern training trip, so I thought I would begin my blog again now so that I could inform everyone at the same time.
Of course because I have somehow offended the airplane gods, I had a not so pleasant trip there or back. However when I finally arrived (3 hours late!) the training was very informative and helpful. We had mini workshops to educate us about some of the inner workings of the society and how certain things should be conducted. We also publicly humiliated ourselves all in the name of fun and having a good time, did line dances as a huge group, and exhibited enough "spirit" fit for a cheerleading camp. We were served very delicious meals by the hotel. At one such meal, I unknowingly made friends with the founder and national president. We're pretty much best buds. We had a lot of good conversations.
The highlight of the trip was of course the short trip to New York city Saturday night. The society didn't provide us transportation of course, but one member of the group found a limo service that also offered busses. We got two busses together (about sixty people in all) and headed to New York until 2 in the morning. It truly is the city that never sleeps. I was shocked at the crowds that were still out! We saw just about everything. We did like a mini tour of all the attractions. We saw the statue of liberty, little italy, china town, wall street, "the bull," broadway, rockafeller center, ground zero, the empire state building, and the highlight of the evening was when we were dropped off at times square for about an hour and a half. We rand wild through times square eating New York style pizza, visiting "m&m world" and just enjoying the sites.
Part of the group on the bus

Apparently it is considered "good luck" to stick one's head into the bull's butt...however, I refrained from this very strange ritual
My group on Times Square
We used the "buddy system" like children on a field trip lol This is my "buddy" Lara
These are just random pictures from Times Square

We met our bus driver back at the theater playing the broadway version of "the Lion King"
